Step out of Exit 3 at Hongik University Station and you’re immediately alongside a long green park. This is Yeonnam-dong.
Locals call it Yeontral Park. It follows the path of an old rail line—one change that reshaped everything around it.
But to really see the neighborhood, wander off the main path. Yeonnam-dong is a maze of narrow alleys, and a lot of the old homes have been turned inside-out into small businesses.
As you walk, make yourself look up. The best cafes, wine bars, and international restaurants are often tucked onto second and third floors. You might stumble into a minimalist espresso bar, a vintage clothing boutique, or a tiny shop entirely dedicated to stickers and art prints.
It’s built for a very slow afternoon.
